What actually changed at Mention
Three things happened in about eighteen months, and together they explain why a tool that used to be an obvious pick for a small marketing team no longer appears on their shortlists.
First, Mention was acquired by Agorapulse in 2025. Agorapulse is a social media management platform with its own publishing and engagement product, which matters for what came next.
Second, in July 2025 the self-serve tiers were discontinued for new customers. Solo at $49/month, Pro at $99/month and Pro Plus at $179/month had been the on-ramp for freelancers, agencies and small in-house teams for years. New buyers are now directed to a single plan, Company, which Mention's own documentation lists as starting at $599/month on an annual contract.
Third, in January 2026 the Publish and Respond module was removed for all users. Mention had let you reply to and publish social content from inside the tool; that capability now lives in Agorapulse as a separate subscription. For a listening tool, that is a meaningful narrowing — you find the conversation in one product and act on it in another.
